Welcome to the Dream.
In a world where commodity and convenience have become our default setting, we are imagining something different. A place where money isn’t at the forefront of how we connect, learn, share, and enjoy life together.
Gift economy is a phrase floating around here a lot these days, along with trade, barter, and reciprocity. At the heart of the Red Shed Project is a simple idea: everyone has something of value to offer.
Rather than building this space alone, we are inviting the community to help create it. Folx can contribute time, skills, materials, or resources and receive trade credit toward future classes or use of the space. By building and operating this way, we inspire to cultivate abundance and accessibility by making room for affordable classes, scholarships, work trade options, and even free community gatherings.
The Red Shed itself is an old shed on the property that we are transforming into a classroom and gathering space with donated time, reclaimed materials, and many helpful hands.
Alongside it, we are growing a medicinal garden where we can sit with the plants, harvest together, and walk straight into the classroom to make medicine with what is growing around us.
We imagine herbal medicine classes, garden to kitchen experiences, seasonal gatherings, traditional skills, creative workshops, and offerings that deepen our relationship with nature and one another. And we know the community will dream up things we haven’t even thought of yet.
So much has already happened.
The shed has insulation, interior walls, new windows, and a beautiful floor where there was once concrete. Garden beds and the Spiral Bed are taking shape, with more medicinal plantings to come.
The Red Shed is being built by the community, for the community. How we create this space is just as important as what eventually happens inside of it.
